The best way to start your night-time routine is to make a simple yet delicious dinner for yourself. And to be realistic, time is not on our side because when you get home from work, you're exhausted, and the thought of looking for ingredients, chopping, and cooking is challenging.

That's where meal kits come in. Meal kits are a subscription-based service that provides portioned ingredients with a step-by-step guide on how to cook your meal. There are dozens of subscription meal kits out there that are convenient and cater to your dietary needs. Hello Fresh, Dinnerly, Blue Apron, and Sunbasket are some of the favourites out there. It also saves a lot of time, and you won't be too lazy to cook dinner!

2. Have a hot bath

After a long stressful day, you need a long hot bath to relieve the stresses of the day. Bathing relaxes your muscles bathing boosts your mental wellbeing.

According to research, bathing in the evenings aids with getting a good night's rest. University of Texas graduate student Shahab Haghayegh, concluded that bathing for at least 90 minutes before bedtime at the temperature of 104- 109 degrees Fahrenheit (40-42 degrees Celsius) can help you get quality sleep.

In order for you fall asleep, your body temperature needs to drop by a couple of degrees. Taking a bath initially raises your body temperature, then decreases as you exit the bath which helps you to fall asleep.

Incorporating bathing into your routine is beneficial to your overall success at work as it boosts your mental clarity and focus.

3. Read a book

Most successful people credit their success to reading.

Successful women like Oprah Winfrey and Emma Watson love to read. That makes sense because there's a lot of valuable knowledge to gain from books. If you want to improve a certain skill, for example, books like How to Grow Your Small Business, and The Attitudes of Success, put you ahead of the rest. Reading helps develop your critical thinking skills, improve your memory, and can help you focus.

4. Spend time with family.

Successful people have found a way to separate time between work and family.

It can be quite difficult to find the balance when most of the time work finds a way to follow us home. Thinking about work drama and answering emails during dinner can be quite stressful and detrimental to your overall wellbeing. Having a work-life balance is about allocating time to prioritise important stuff.

When you come home from work, it's imperative that you put everything down, unplug, and connect with your family. You'll be much happier, and you'll avoid burnout.

5. Plan your next day

When you're all relaxed, take out your planner or calendar and start planning your next day.

Try writing down your main priorities and your short- and long-term goals.

Having an idea of what goals you're going to accomplish the next day will make you more productive and organised, which will make your day less stressful. You'll also sleep better knowing that your day is planned.

A successful person knows how to manage their time accordingly so that they work smart instead of hard.

6. Prayer and meditation

One of the best habits to incorporate into your routine before sleeping is to pray and meditate.

If you're a person of faith, prayer allows you to communicate and strengthens your relationship with God, which helps you find a deeper sense of connection and purpose.

Most people struggle with turning off their brains, so meditation allows you to relax your body, breathe in and out, centre your thoughts, and quiet your mind. Studies have shown that meditation reduces stress and anxiety, trains your mind to focus, and

concentrate.

Another benefit of having a journal is that it  encourages mindfulness and self awareness.

  • Try not to use your cellphone in bed.
  • Turn off the lights in your bedroom.

When you go to bed early, you're making sure that your mind and body get enough rest, allowing you to wake up feeling energised and ready for a productive day.
