Coming out of the Easter weekend celebrating Jesus’ resurrection, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying chocolate hot cross buns (my absolute favourite!), I’ve been really feeling unusually peaceful and still. Made me realise that we live in God's love and grace.

In a world that moves so fast, where social media has chipped away at our attention spans and mostly joy, I’ve been trying to slow down and find peace in both my life and my current situation. No matter where you are in life, it’s important to pause and look for the positives.

Lately, I’ve been making an effort to notice the small things that make life feel softer, slower, and a little more beautiful.

So I compiled 10 simple and tiny things and gestures that gave me peace and calmed my soul.

10 Little Joys That Made My Week Peaceful

1. The smell of tea steaming while the rain tapped on the window.

Where I'm from there's been a lot of rain lately, which I absolutely love! I enjoy sitting by the window sipping my favourite tea (Rooibos tea).

There’s something so calming about that scent—warm and familiar. It reminds me of my childhood, when my mom would make rooibos tea on rainy afternoons. I sat in silence, just listening to the soft drizzle outside, and for once, I didn’t feel the need to scroll or rush. That moment made me feel like time had slowed down, even if just for five minutes.

2. A quote I stumbled upon at just the right moment.

"Be still and know that I am God", Psalm 46; 10

Life got a little too crazy for me in the last few month's and it got to a point where I needed to let go and let it be and most importantly, trust God.

Reading this was a gentle reminder I didn’t know I needed.

3. The warmth of my bed.

We always take the little things for granted so it's important to notice the intricate things that make you smile. For me, it's the feeling of finally getting to bed after a long day. Theres something about feeling of warm blanket touching your skin that makes everything feel safe and sacred.

4. A message from someone I hadn’t heard from in ages.

It was unexpected, an old friend of mine just sent a quick message saying they’d been thinking of me. But it meant more than they probably realized. Lately, I’ve been feeling a little disconnected, and hearing from someone who remembered me without a reason made me feel seen. It reminded me that even when we’re quiet, we’re not forgotten.

5. Listening to an old song that felt like a hug.

I love listening to older songs when I'm busy doing chores at the house. I sing along and even dance a little when no one is looking. Nostalgic songs bring back memories and comfort I didn’t expect.

6. Watering my plants and noticing new leaves.

I’ve been learning how to care for my plants over time. Some of them are survivors from when I didn’t really know what I was doing, and now they’re growing. Seeing new leaves made me feel proud in a strange way. It felt symbolic, like even when I don’t see it, growth is happening, slowly but surely, both for my plants and for me.

7. A quiet moment where I just breathed deeply and felt okay.

No rush, no noise—just peace.

8. A long hot bath and wearing my favourite soft pyjamas.

Sometimes all you need is a long hot bath where you can relax in peace.

9. A Pinterest board that suddenly sparked something inside me.

I came across a yummy chocolate hot cross bun recipe. And let me tell you how amazing it tasted.

10. Finishing a blog post and hitting “Publish”

As a blogger it's always hard to find inspiration to post something. It gives me greater joy to finally be able to publish something for someone to enjoy. Proof that I’m showing up for myself and others, even in small ways.

Other bits of joy I’m Loving Right Now:

These little joys may seem ordinary, but they’ve carried me gently through the week. I’m learning that peace doesn’t always come from big moments, sometimes, it’s found in the quiet, everyday things.

What were your little joys this week? I’d love to hear.
